The city has its own airport - Lahad Datu LDU, which can be used for travel to the area. There are direct flights to Kota Kinabalu and Sandakan.
You can also arrive in the city by bus, with direct connections to Tawau, Semporna and Sandakan, but you will need to change buses for other destinations in Borneo.
