What to see in and around Kudat?

Kudat and the surrounding area itself offers a number of attractions worth exploring:

  • Downtown - The peaceful city center offers mainly a historical atmosphere, but you'll also find several temples and a nice fresh food market.
  • Borneo's nor thernmost tip - A roadtrip to Borneo's northernmost tip is an experience in itself, the entire peninsula is lined with beautiful beaches that you'll almost have to yourself.
  • Honey production village - A traditional village of the Rungus ethnic group, where you will be introduced to the production of the local typical honey.
  • Tun Mustapha Museum - A newly opened museum that showcases the culture and history of this part of Borneo.
  • Beaches - Some of the most beautiful beaches to relax on are Bak Bak or Kelambu beaches.

Transportation to Kudat

Kudat can be reached directly by bus, there are direct buses from Kota Kinabalu, Kota Belud and Sandakan. Book buses at 12go.com.

However, if you're planning to explore the whole area, it's best to rent a car in Kota Kinabalu and head north with that.
