The famous La Fenice opera house has suffered a turbulent fate, having been hit by a devastating fire several times during its existence. The present neoclassical building dates back to 1792 and has witnessed the premieres of many world-famous operas (La Traviata, Rigoletto, La Bohème, Les Montagues et les Capulets, etc.).
The famous opera house - ticket prices
From the outside, La Fenice hides behind the simple façade of a relatively subtle-looking house, but inside it unfolds into a large and magnificent theatre space for more than 1,000 spectators. La Fenice's opera house is one of the most famous in the world, and if you're thinking of a cultural experience when visiting Venice, then a visit to this opera house is right up your alley.
The theatre's programme also includes ballet or musical performances, with an opera performed roughly every third day. The complete programme of the theatre can be found on its website: teatrolafenice.it/calendario.
Tickets, especially for opera, should be bought well in advance (ideally at least a month or two) and expect prices ranging from 99 eur in the galleries to 400 eur in the best parts of the auditorium.
