The town of Pietrasanta combines beautiful wide and endless beaches and a small, pretty historic centre in the foothills of the Apuan Alps.
Together with the neighbouring resort of Viareggio, it is one of the most popular resorts in Tuscany thanks to its excellent accessibility from the main Tuscan airport. Pisa PSA.
Beaches and swimming
The entire strip of beaches around Pietrasanto is covered in fine white sand and has very good facilities in the form of restaurants, shops and tourist services.
Practically the entire beach of Pietrasanta is located in the Marina di Pietrasanta district and contains only the paid parts, the so-called Lido.
Only a 5 metre wide strip just off the coast is free.
The entrance fee to these Lido varies between 25 eur and 45 eur per day, depending on the season and also on the position of the sunbed and umbrella, which is included in the price of admission.
Sights
The historic centre of Pietrasanta lies about 3 km from the coast.
The main monument is the local white marble cathedral, which dates from the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries.

How to get there
The fastest and most convenient transport is by train to Viareggio station in the city centre, about 700 metres from the beach.

- Pisa - 2-5 times per hour, 25 minutes
- Lucca - 2 times per hour, journey time 17 minutes

- Cinque Terre - 2x per hour, journey time 1 hour and 20 minutes
- Rome - approx. 2 times per hour, the ride takes 3.5 hours
