During March, daytime temperatures rise to an average of 11 °C to 16 °C. The wind from the sea is still cold, but there are only about 4 days of rain a month and the sun is often pleasantly warm.
March can therefore also be a good month for hiking along the coast.

A typical spring month brings blooming flowers and temperatures of around 17°C to Marseille.
It rains a little more in April than in winter, but the precipitation is mostly just showers that don't last more than half a day. You can normally expect 6 rainy days a month.
Weather in May
The weather in May is great for being outdoors. Daytime temperatures climb up to 22°C (72°F), and the occasional short rain shower is more of a pleasant change from the sunny weather.
Because it's not so hot, May is an absolutely perfect month for hiking in Calanques National Park.

June is the first month of summer and temperatures normally climb to between 25°C and 27°C.
It rains on average only 3 days a month, the weather is mostly sunny and the cooler wind from the sea is refreshing.

July is the hottest month of the year with average temperatures between 28 °C and 31 °C.
Rain is very rare in July and the weather is almost exclusively clear with a pleasant breeze from the sea.

August, like July, is a hot summer month with temperatures between 28 °C and 31 °C. Extremes of over 35 °C are not exceptional.

September is still a beautiful summer month in Marseille, with average temperatures between 22 °C and 26 °C and mostly clear weather.

Although October is the rainiest month of the year, it only rains about 6-7 days a month. Prolonged rains are rare.

November is a rainy month by southern French standards. It rains on average 7 days a month in the form of short showers.
Despite this, November is a good month for sightseeing, but also for strolling around Le Panier or the Vieux-Port waterfront. Daytime temperatures are around 15 °C.

December is the month with the least sunshine. Firstly, it is more often cloudy than in other months and secondly, it gets dark very early (around 5pm).
Temperatures range between 8 °C and 12 °C and there is less rain compared to autumn. Therefore, December can also be a great month to visit Marseille.

When to go to Marseille
Marseille is more or less a year-round destination.
During the winter, the wind is cold and temperatures are only 15°C, but Marseille offers plenty of indoor activities, museums and sights, and even trips to nearby historic towns can be great during this time.
Plus, hotels in Marseille are up to 20% cheaper in winter than in summer.
The best time to hike in the Calanques National Park is spring and early autumn (April-June, September-October), when temperatures are pleasant but not hot.
