Santa Giulia beach in southern Corsica is considered the most beautiful of all the surrounding beaches and is regularly included in the list of the most beautiful beaches in the world, as UNESCO has confirmed several times in its recommendations. However, the beach itself is not on the UNESCO list.
The granite cliffs nestled in the macchia and pine-covered shoreline give the beach a wildness and the clear turquoise-dark blue water the feel of the exotic Caribbean.
The beach is located on a very narrow strip of coastline that separates the sea from the enclosed lake, where you can observe many species of birds.
Swimming and beach facilities
The sea here is calm with turquoise clear water, the sand is beautifully white. Shade is provided by the pine trees that grow around the beach. There is a good choice of refreshments and water activities on the beach (boat hire, jet skis, catamarans, kayaks, surfboards, funboards and more).
The Étang de Santa Giulia lake, which extends from the other side of the beach, is ideal for very short walks along its shores and for observing the Corsican fauna, especially the birds.
The occasional rocks at the edges of the bay and the calm sea also make for very good snorkelling conditions.
- The surface of the beach - fine white sand

- Width of the beach - 20 metres
- Deckchair rental - yes (approx. 20 eur per set per day)

The northern end of the beach is busy with lots of restaurants, a pier and water sports on offer, while the southern end tends to be quieter.
Beachfront accommodation
As the only one of the three famous beaches south of Porto-Vecchio, Santa Giulia boasts a wide range of accommodation within walking distance. These are mostly holiday villas and smaller hotels set into the coastline so as not to destroy the natural character of the area. Prices here are logically high, with the cheapest studios starting at 147 eur per night and the better quality hotels at 293 eur per night.
For example, we would recommend these accommodations:
- Costa Nera - beautiful and well rated apartments with decent prices about 100 metres from the beach
- Hôtel Castell'Verde - with prices around 5,500, one of the cheapest classic hotels, located about 250 metres from the beach
- Hôtel Moby Dick - 4* hotel right on Santa Giulia beach with beautiful terraces overlooking the sea
How to get to Santa Giulia beach?
The beach is easily accessible by car, as it is about 350 metres from the main T10 road, with the turn-off clearly signposted. The narrow asphalt road then takes you almost to the beach, where there is an official paid parking lot with prices around 5 eur per day.
From 1 July to the end of September there is also a special bus service from Porto-Vecchio 2-4 times a day. The price of a return ticket is 9 eur and timetables can be found on the Rapides Bleus website.
