Cairo Tower serves as a transmitter, restaurant and observatory all in one and is a very popular tourist attraction for both local and international visitors.
The architecture and height of Cairo Tower
The slender concrete tube is covered by a perforated open grid designed to resemble the pharaonic lotus, a symbol of ancient Egypt. The tower was completed in 1961 and is 187 metres high.
The last floor with the observatory is 143 metres above the ground.
The observation deck is located on an open-air gallery, so that no glass will obstruct the view and photography. As this is the tallest building in downtown Cairo, there are no other obstructions to the view and you can really see the whole city.
Entrance fees and opening hours
Open daily from 8:00am-0:00pm.
Tickets for the tower are priced at 200 egp and can be purchased at the entrance. Queues can form for up to 30 minutes at exposed times (especially Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights).
How to get to Cairo Tower?
