Due to the distance of 42 km north of Warsaw, you have to expect longer commuting times. Two modes of public transport are available.
Direct connection by long-distance buses is faster and more convenient. On the other hand, a cheaper connection is offered by train from the railway station 2 km away, to which shuttle buses run.

Bus to Warsaw
Two companies provide direct connections between the terminal and the centre of Warsaw.
- Contbus - runs 8-12 times a day to cover the entire flight schedule. Instead of buses there are usually only smaller minibuses. Ticket price is 30 pln + 1,17 pln booking fee if you buy online at bilety.contbus.pl. In Warsaw, the buses stop in front of the Marriott hotel about 150 meters from the main train station (see map).
- Flixbus - runs 5-8 times a day, depending on flight traffic. In Warsaw, it stops at the main bus station dw. Zachodni and also stops at Mlociny metro station in the north of Warsaw. Ideally, buy tickets online at flixbus.com for prices between 30 pln and 35 pln depending on availability.
The journey to the centre of Warsaw takes between 50 and 60 minutes, while the journey to the Mlociny metro station takes only about 35 minutes.
Train to Warsaw
It takes about 60 minutes to get to the centre of Warsaw by train from the nearby "Modlin" station, which is served by a free shuttle bus (7 minutes) from the terminal.
The combination of train + shuttle bus from the station to the airport is the cheapest way to get to Warsaw.
A ticket to any train station within the city will cost 22,40 pln and includes a shuttle bus ride. Tickets can be bought at any ticket office at the stations (Koleje Mazowieckie company) or at the ticket machine, which is also located at the airport. The shuttle bus driver does not sell tickets.
The most convenient way to buy a ticket is online via the website mazowieckie.com.pl, where you can also find a detailed timetable.
To view the entire journey to the terminal, enter "Modlin Airport" in the search box, where you will also see the times of the connecting shuttle bus.
Tip: If you use the 24-hour Warsaw public transport ticket in zone 1 for 15 pln, just buy the Legionowo - Modlin section for 10,40 pln when travelling to the airport by train.
The first connection from the city centre leaves around 3:20 (line RL) with the arrival to the airport at around 4:10. The last connection from the airport runs shortly after midnight.
Trains from Modlin run on 2 direct routes to different places in Warsaw:
- RL/R9: Modlin - Warszawa Praga - Warszwawa Wschodnia - Warszwawa Centralna - Warszawa Lotnisko Chopina (RL only)
- R90: Modlin - Warszawa Praga - Warszwawa ZOO - Warszwawa Mlynów - Warszwawa Zachodnia
The frequency of connections on each route is approximately 1x per hour.
Car rental
Travel through the Polish countryside and rent a car directly at the terminal, where several large car rental companies are located.
Prices for a 4-day rental are around 40 eur.
Warsaw-Chopin Airport (WAW)
When transferring to the larger Warsaw-Chopin WAW airport, keep in mind that it is located quite far away and you should allow at least 3.5 hours between flights.
Direct connection without change from Modlin station is provided by the RL train line, which runs once about once an hour.
From Modlin station you can take a shuttle bus to the airport, which is included in the ticket price. The total journey takes an hour and a half at the price of 22,40 pln.
Timetables and online ticket purchase can be found on the website: mazowieckie.com.pl.
If you still have a valid 24-hour pass for Varsava for zone 1 (zone 1), then you only need to buy a train ticket for the Legionowo - Modlin section for 10.40 zlotys (November 2024).
From the Modlin flyover you can also get to the WMI airport on foot and on the way admire the Modlin fortress at the confluence of the Vistula and Narew rivers.
Thanks, useful tip!
In Modlin and Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki, public transport is free, but there are few connections and they don't go to the airport. If you're lucky, you can take a bus part of the way. Only buses from the station go to the airport, they don't stop in town. www.nowydwormaz.pl/58, communication
If you like forts, you won't be disappointed in Modlin. A tour of the fortress structures will take half a day to a full day. There is an entrance fee to the forts. https://twierdzamodlin.com/
