Early morning departures and late arrivals are not well covered by public transport, so accommodation near the terminal may be useful.

Hotels in Venice
If you don't mind the night bus service to/from Venice or plan to travel by taxi, look for accommodation right in the city.
The centre of Venice is the best location for accommodation but has the highest prices.
Hotels in mainland Mestre offer significantly lower prices. The downside is the daily commute to the center of Venice (about 20 minutes one way).
