Tashkent Airport has two terminals, each building is on the opposite side of the runway and they are not connected in any way.
All the buildings are quite small, without good facilities and uncomfortable, especially because of the large number of people in a small space and the lack of seating at times when several large planes depart at the same time.
- Terminal 1 - handles all international arrivals
- Terminal 2 - handles all international departures
- Terminal 3 - handles all domestic flights within Uzbekistan
Terminals 1 and 2 are closely connected to each other and are usually referred to as one Terminal 2 (as this is used to check in departing passengers).
Transfer between flights
Tashkent Airport is an important transfer hub for domestic flights within Uzbekistan, but also for purely international transit (e.g. Frankfurt - Tashkent - Bangkok, etc.) thanks to Uzbekistan Airways.
International <-> International
In the case of an international transfer, you do not leave the transit zone and the transfer is very quick and straightforward due to the size of the terminal.
Once you exit the aircraft before passport control, follow the instructions of the staff who will direct you to the security checkpoint for transfer passengers only. Before this check, you must show your boarding pass for the connecting flight.
Your luggage will be automatically transferred and you do not need to worry about it.
The net transfer time between flights is around 30-40 minutes maximum. The distances are very short.
International <-> Domestic
When transferring from an international to a domestic flight, the situation is more complicated as the terminal for local flights is on the other side of the airport.
Even with one ticket, your luggage will not be automatically transferred, you must collect it, transport to the other terminal and check in again there. This procedure applies to both the transfer from an international flight to a domestic flight and vice versa.
Upon arrival in Uzbekistan, expect queues for passport control of around 20-40 minutes.
Moving between terminals
You can only transfer from the international to the domestic terminal via the public section (landside). There are no buses running between terminals on the tarmac.
A free airport bus with the sign "UzPort" runs between the terminals once an hour between 5:00 and 23:00. The journey time is approximately 25 minutes.
An alternative is to use the regular public transport lines that connect the two terminals (buses 11, 17m, 77). The ticket costs 2,000 soms and can only be paid in local currency inside the bus.
The last option is a taxi, the price of which depends on the agreement. Taxi drivers usually take passengers between terminals for high amounts around 25 000 uzs.
