Getting from Surakarta Solo Airport

Airport Solo

The fastest way to get to the centre of Solo Balapan Station is to take the special KA train line, which only runs a few times a day.

A frequent bus service is offered by the K1S bus line, which goes directly to the centre and Purwosari train station.

Grab / Gojek / Taxi

It is very popular in Indonesia to travel by cheap taxis, however, especially when travelling from the airport, the prices are relatively high as only special licensed taxis can travel in this direction.

However, you can take any taxi from the city centre to the airport as well as cheaper Grab / Gojek cars.

It is generally cheaper to use the Grab / Gojek mobile app than regular taxis. We always recommend comparing prices on both apps.

At Solo Balapan station, you can change to long-distance trains or the Y suburban line in the direction of Yogyakarta.

You won't find the timetables of the KA line on any official websites, but Google Maps shows them exactly when you click on the station:

  • Adi Soemarmo at the airport (see map)
  • Solo Balapan in the centre (see map)

None of the electronic transport cards valid on regular buses or suburban trains throughout Indonesia are valid for the train.

You must buy a paper ticket at the ticket office, which can be paid for with cash or card.
