There is no regular public transport to the airport, only a special bus line from the centre of Skopje.
You can also use taxis or rental cars.
Bus to Skopje
Bus connections between the airport and the centre of Skopje are provided by W Transporter.
The timetable reflects flight traffic, however the number of bus connections is less than the number of arrivals or departures. A detailed timetable can be found on the website: wtransporter.com/#timetable.
Tickets can be purchased online, for example via flibco.com.
The bus has only 3 stops:
- At the Capitol Mall - about 20 minutes away
- Main Bus and Train Station - approx. 30 minutes away
- Holiday Inn Hotel downtown - approx. 35 to 45 minutes away depending on traffic
The cost is 200 MKD and the ticket is purchased from the driver or at the kiosk in the arrivals hall (the ticket office is only open between 8am-8pm).
You can also pay by card at the kiosk, the driver only accepts cash. In addition to Macedonian dinars, you can also pay in euros. In this case, the price will be slightly higher after conversion and you will pay 4 eur for the journey to the centre.
The price is the same to all stops.
Detailed information can be found on the website: wtransporter.com.
Taxi
Taxi service at the airport is provided by only one officially approved company.
The price to Skopje is flat rate and is 1 500 mkd or 25 eur. You can pay in both currencies without problems, but only in cash.
For more destinations and prices, see the price list on the airport website: skp.airports.com.mk/taxi.
Uber and other mobile apps do not work in Skopje.
Car rental
Due to poor regional and long-distance transport, renting a car is the best option for exploring the Macedonian countryside and cities other than Skopje.
The arrivals hall has many counters of most major international car rental companies.
Prices for weekly rentals start at 215 eur.
