Public transport minibuses run along the main road about 200 metres from the terminal, but for most tourists with luggage, the only option is to take a taxi or rent a car.
Car rental
There are several well-known car rental companies at the airport (Avis, Hertz, Thrifty, Drive-A-Matic, etc.), all located in the arrivals hall of the terminal.
Prices for renting a smaller car for a week in high season (December to April) rise to around 500 usd. In the low season, you can also rent a car for a week at 350 usd.
We strongly recommend booking your car well in advance. The capacity of local rental companies is small and it happens that cars are sold out even 2 months before the planned trip.
On St. Lucia, drive on the left.
Taxi
The official taxi rank is outside the arrivals hall. Taxi prices are not fixed and you usually have to bargain. You can pay in cash only, but you can also pay in US dollars.
Prices should not exceed these amounts:
- Castries - 85 usd (journey time approx. 75 minutes)
- Rodney Bay, Gros Islet, Royalton - 100 usd (driving time approx. 90 minutes)
- Soufriere - 70 usd (driving time approx. 70 minutes)
- Marigot Bay - 75 usd (driving time approx. 75 minutes)
If you are travelling two people, the amounts usually increase by about 20%.

Public transport - minibuses
Public transport in St Lucia is practically only used by locals. The transport is safe, but a little unclear for tourists.
In addition, the minibuses are very cramped and you can only use them if you are travelling with only 1 hand luggage, which you can comfortably put on your lap.
Bus line 2H runs on the main road around the airport. The minibuses are sometimes not marked with the line number, but you can recognize them by their green license plates with the initial letter "M".
Line 2H runs between Vieux Port - airport - Micoud - Dennery - Bexon - Castries.
The fare is calculated according to the distance travelled. To the nearest village of Vieux Port you pay 2,50 xcd, while to Castries the ticket costs 9 xcd. You pay the driver in cash only.
Buses usually run from 7am to 8pm and there is no timetable. The minibus only sets off on its route when it fills up, so the interval is between 15 and 45 minutes.
The journey time to Castries is approximately 90 minutes.
