Getting from Newquay Airport

Newquay

Newquay Airport serves as an ideal base for exploring Cornwall. The terminal is served by a shuttle bus and there are also car hire facilities.

Car rental

Cornwall's countryside, beaches and photogenic cliffs are best explored by car. There are several car rental companies right at the terminal, including well-known brands such as Hertz and Europcar.

Weekly rental prices range from 350 gbp in the summer season. However, due to the limited capacity of car rental companies, book your car at least 2 months in advance.

Bus

About 50 metres from the departures terminal and about 150 metres from the arrivals (towards the left) you will find the local public bus stop.

The 56 bus service to the airport connects Newquay and Padstow. The line is not an express and therefore stops at all stops along the route.

To pay your fare, simply swipe your contactless card at the driver's terminal. On alighting, you must swipe the card again at the terminal. Alternatively, tickets can be purchased in cash directly from the driver.

The final option is to purchase via the Go Cornwall Bus app.

Buses run to the airport approximately once an hour, with a longer frequency in the morning. On Sundays, the 56 only runs 5 times a day.

Taxi

The taxi rank, with a kiosk to order a car, is just outside the arrivals hall.

You can easily pay for the taxi with your credit card.

The cost to Newquay town centre by regular taxi is about 20 gbp. A cheaper alternative may be to hail a taxi via the Uber app, where prices start at 13 gbp.

On foot

Newquay Airport is close to the popular walking trail along the coast, which winds about 3km from the terminal.

However, the walking route to this trail is along a very narrow road with no shoulder and fairly heavy traffic. A slightly longer route along minor roads passes through the village of St. Mawgan.

From Watergate you then follow a beautiful footpath along the sea to Newquay, which is reached after about 9 km.
