Getting from Mahé Airport

La Digue

The cheapest way to get from the airport to places around the island is via the Victoria bus station.

Taxis are a very expensive mode of transport and if you don't want to travel around Mahé Island by bus, we recommend renting a car directly from the terminal.

Car rental

A car is the most convenient means of transport if you want to discover the secluded beaches and all the natural attractions of Mahé Island.

The terminal is home to many large international car rental companies.

In high season, car rental prices for 4 days start at 200 eur for a small car.

Bus

The airport bus departs from the bus stop on the left side of the building by the main road. The driver may not accept you if you have large luggage with you. Hand luggage will pass without any problems.

Official bus service website: sptc.sc.

Fares can only be paid by prepaid cards for 4 days or 8 days. Fares are always valid for calendar days when you can use all bus routes on the island.

There are two separate types of cards - cheaper for locals and more expensive for visitors and unfortunately they are only sold at the bus stations and not at the airport.

  • 4 days for 165 scr
  • 8 days per 330 scr

There is no legal way to buy a ticket when travelling from the airport as a foreigner. Occasionally locals will offer to pay the fare for you on their card, but this is not the rule.

There are several lines that pass by the airport.

Taxi

An alternative is a taxi, but this is a very expensive mode of transport. You can also pay 500 scr or more for a ride from the airport to Beau Vallon.

Taxis here must always run according to the meter.

Mobile apps like Uber, Bolt or Grab don't work here.
