Train to Leipzig

Transport to the city centre to the main station, is provided by the city's S-Bahn lines S5 and S5X. The terminus of the trains is usually Zwickau or Altenburg and, in addition to the main station, they also pass directly through the centre of Leipzig (Leipzig Markt station).

Tickets for 5,40 eur can be purchased at the station's ticket machine (cash and card payment) or on the Moovme mobile app.

Long-distance trains stopping at the airport can also be used to get from the airport to the city centre, but the ticket price is higher (7,30 eur) and does not apply to other public transport connections in Leipzig.

Train to Halle

The second major city near the airport is also conveniently accessible by the S-Bahn trains of the S5 and S5X lines.

Tickets can be purchased for 5,40 eur at the ticket machine at the station (cash and card payment) or on the Moovme mobile app.

Long-distance trains

InterCity long-distance trains and ICE express trains from Leipzig or Dresden to other German destinations also stop at the airport station.

For the best price, buy your tickets in advance online at bahn.de.

Public transport buses

All transport to Leipzig city centre and Halle is provided by trains. The only bus line 217 takes you from the airport once every 2 hours for 3,90 eur to the towns of Delitzsch and Schkeuditz.
