There is no public transport to Kilimanjaro Airport. You can only use the flat-rate taxi service 50 usd or shared vans from Air Tanzania and Precision Air.
Taxi
Only official airport taxis are allowed from the airport and you will rarely encounter scam taxi drivers in the arrivals hall.
A taxi from Kilimanjaro Airport is therefore a very safe mode of transport.
The flat rate from the airport to both Arusha and Moshi is 50 usd. US dollars are the preferred currency, however you can easily pay in Tanzanian shillings when the price is converted at 140 000 tzs.
Driving time to the centre of both Arusha and Moshi is around 60 minutes in the early morning or evening, or around 75 minutes during the day.
Mobile apps like Bolt or Uber do not operate here.
Shared by shuttle
Precision Air and Air Tanzania airlines offer their passengers a van service to both Arusha and Moshi.
This transport is only available to passengers of the flight in question and the ride is only available upon presentation of a boarding pass or ticket. The journey to both cities for both airlines costs 10 000 tzs.

Car Hire
Renting a car is the best option if you want to explore Tanzania on your own and are aware of the specifics of driving in Africa such as the absolute ignorance of traffic regulations, the poor condition of the roads and the frequent occurrence of wildlife on the roads.
Kilimanjaro Airport is not home to any car rental companies.
International rental companies such as Auto Uninon or Europcar can be found in Arusha.
