Despite its small size, Kaohsiung Airport is served by two terminals. The buildings are about 250 metres apart and can only be moved between them via the outdoor public area on a well-marked walkway.
- Domestic - handles flights within Taiwan only, i.e. to Taiwan Island and the smaller islands of Penghu, Kinmen, Matsu (Beigan and Nangan), Qimei, Wang-an
- International - handles all flights outside Taiwan, including flights to mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau
Opening hours of both terminals are 5:00-23:00.
Both terminals are modernized and convenient for passengers. Inside you will find plenty of seating including comfortable armchairs with drawers.
Signage is very clear and always listed in Chinese and English.
Immigration control
Upon arrival from an international destination, you will go through passport control at the international terminal. Queues usually reach 5 to 20 minutes.
Before departure you will also go through passport control, however the queues are usually much shorter and can be up to 5 minutes.
Transfer between flights
If you are checking in for the next flight and your luggage is going to your final destination (or you are travelling with hand luggage only), in some cases you do not have to leave the transit area.
- Domestic <-> Domestic - no check, no need to leave the transit area, transfer usually takes up to 10 minutes
- International <-> International - security check, but you do not have to leave the transit area, transfer usually takes up to 15 minutes
- International <-> Domestic - you must pass through immigration and security checks and always leave the transit area, transfer usually takes up to 45 minutes
