The airport is served by a public bus and there are taxi and car rental services available.
Public bus
There are special bus routes to the airport from the centre of Debrecen and from the main train station, with timetables adapted to flight traffic:
- Airport 1 - it goes to the main station and operates all day (timetable and map: dkv.ptss.hu)
- Airport 2 - runs via the main station and the historic centre to the north of Debrecen, but only connects to night arrivals and early morning departures (timetable and map: dkv.ptss.hu)
The journey to the main station takes 12 minutes.
How much do bus tickets cost in Debrecen?
- 1 ride - 550 huf from the driver / 460 huf from the ticket machine / 440 huf via the mobile app
- 60 minutes (transfer) - 500 huf via mobile app (no paper version)
- All day - 1 500 huf in the app and from the ticket machine (the driver does not sell these tickets)
You can only pay with cash at the driver and you won't find a ticket machine at the airport. The mobile app for tickets in Debrecen is called Nemzeti Mobilfizetési Zrt. (available on Google Play / App Store).

Taxi
There are always plenty of taxis waiting at the airport for every arrival. You can pay with cash or card and the price to the centre of Debrecen is about 5 000 huf.
Lower prices, especially on the way to the airport (starting from 3 660 huf) are offered by the Bolt app, which is very popular in Debrecen.
Car rental
If you want to travel extensively in the Hungarian countryside, renting a car is the most convenient mode of transport. You'll find several car rental branches in the arrivals area of the terminal, which you should always book online in advance.
Weekly rental prices start at 180 eur depending on the size of the car.
As mentioned above, we can't find a bus ticket machine at the airport and the driver only accepts cash in HUFnagels, he doesn't accept credit cards.
It happens that the nice driver takes only two passengers, a Turk and a Czech, to the centre of Debrecen for free.
