Dallas Fort Worth Airport is connected to both cities by direct train lines. A large number of car rental companies are also available.

Car rental

Dallas or Fort Worth are not major tourist destinations in their own right. Therefore, it is best for travelers to rent a car right at the airport and set off to explore Texas.

Prices for a weekly rental are around 310 usd.

Car rental agencies are all located in one building about 3 km south of the airport area. A special free shuttle bus runs from all terminals to the car rental agencies with a frequency of 10 to 15 minutes. The buses run 24/7 and will take you to the rental car building in 10 minutes.

DART trains

The fastest transportation to Dallas is the subway, or rather the DART system's rapid transit. The airport is served by Orange Line.

The station is located just outside Terminal A. To get to the other terminals, use the free "Terminal Link" bus, which runs every 10 minutes from 5:00 to 0:00.

The Orange Line goes from the airport directly to the city centre, where you can change to other routes (West End Station).

You can buy a ticket for 3 usd from the ticket machine at each train station. There is also a day pass for 6 usd for all DART train and bus lines. You can also use the GoPass mobile app to purchase a ticket.

Taxis are the most used transportation to Dallas. There are stands outside all terminals and you can use the Uber app to get to Dallas in addition to the traditional yellow cabs.

It takes about 25 minutes by car to get to downtown Dallas in the early morning or late evening. During the day, depending on congestion, travel times can increase to 60 minutes.

The average taxi fare to downtown Dallas is 35 usd.

Trinity Railway Express

A complementary and transportation option to Dallas is the Trinity Railway Express from the CentrePort/DFW Airport station, but this is more than 6 miles south of the airport.

From Terminal B at CenterPort Station, the 31 TRE LINK special bus service runs once every 20 minutes (once every 40 minutes on weekends) from 5:30 am to 11:40 pm. The bus ticket costs 2 usd.

Trains run approximately every 30 minutes from 5:15 to 23:00. The trip to Union Station in downtown Dallas takes 30 minutes from CentrePort and 60-75 minutes total from the terminals.

TEXRail Trains
