Shops and supermarkets

Shop facilities are relatively poor compared to airports of the same size.

At all terminals you will always find a large duty free shop after security.

There are also shops selling electronics and travel gear, and a limited selection of fashion or candy stores. The biggest shopping opportunities are in terminals 1 and 3.

O'Hare Airport is well-equipped with Hudson News mini-markets selling basic groceries.

Hudson News mini-markets are located at the departure gates, but it is also very convenient to locate them in the arrivals halls near the baggage claim belts, where you can purchase basic snacks upon arrival before heading to your hotel.

A list of all the shops is available on the airport website: flychicago.com/ohare/shop.

Restaurants

Refreshment options are available, especially in the transit area after security.

There is a full range of options from better restaurants to fast-food joints from well-known brands such as McDonald's, Brioche Doree, Starbucks, Burger King and Auntie Anne's.

Despite Chicago Airport being one of the largest in the world, the vast majority of restaurants are only open during the day (usually opening around 6:00am and closing between 8:00pm and 10:00pm).

At night and in the early morning hours, the ubiquitous vending machines with drinks or bagels are available.

The only full-service snack bar open 24/7 is Dunkin' Donuts, Terminal 3, after security checkpoint at Gate H4.

A list of all restaurants is available on the airport website: flychicago.com/ohare/eat.

Vending machines

There are vending machines selling drinks, sweets and baguettes in many places in all terminals, especially after security.

In addition, CVS Pharmacy also operates many of its own vending machines for basic medical supplies. There are even vending machines with cosmetics, pharmaceuticals or toys.

Luggage storage

There is currently no baggage storage facility at O'Hare.

The automated lockers from Safe Lockers were discontinued in 2020. Information about luggage storage options at the nearby Hilton Hotel is for hotel guests only.

Charging station

While charging outlets can be found in multiple locations throughout the airport, there are also areas in each terminal with a laptop work area and multiple outlets in one location.

Most of these can be found in Terminals 1 and 3, always after security. A list of all charging stations with exact locations can be viewed at flychicago.com/ohare/power.

Travelling with children

Special rooms are available at all terminals for mothers with young children to change or breastfeed privately.

For a list of rooms for children, visit flychicago.com/children.

ATMs and currency exchange facilities

Exchange offices at the airport are operated by Seaway Bank with fairly good rates.

In addition, there are many ATMs throughout the airport where you can withdraw cash with foreign cards.
