The largest Moroccan city is also 30 km from the centre and has the largest airport in the country, named Casablanca-Mohammed V.
As well as travelling to Casablanca itself, the airport has recently become increasingly popular for connecting flights thanks to the burgeoning domestic airline Royal Air Maroc.
Globally, the airport ranks as a medium-sized airport, but within Africa it is one of the top 10 largest airports.
Most flights are to France and Western Europe, as well as throughout Africa. Long-distance flights go to destinations such as Montreal, New York, Dubai and Doha.
Low-cost carrier Air Arabia also has a major base at the airport.
