There is no public transport to the airport terminal. Taxis and car rental services are available.

Car rental

Renting a car directly at the airport is the most convenient option for most tourists. Public transport generally only operates throughout Tasmania to connect the major cities, and there is no way to get to the natural attractions except without a car.

Europcar, Avis, Dollar, Hertz and Thrifty all have branches at Burnie Airport.

Taxi / Uber

There is a taxi rank outside the terminal. Taxi drivers are usually waiting at each scheduled arrival, however there are not always enough cars available. There is a phone number for a local taxi company at the exit of the terminal.

Uber also operates in Burnie, however, you must allow for longer booking times. Often you will not find a free car at all or you will wait for more than 30 minutes.

Public transport

There are no buses or trains to Burnie-Wynyard Airport.

However, the nearest bus stop in downtown Wynyard is only a 15 minute walk / 700 metres away (see map).

Bus route 197 from Burnie runs to Wynyard, where you can change to long-distance services in the direction of Launceston and Hobart.

You can buy a ticket for 2,70 aud from the driver using cash only or cheaper via a reloadable Greencard, which you can buy at "Service Tasmania" in Wynyard town centre (72 Goldie Street).
