Bus 200E
This line is the cheapest transport option to the airport. It goes to the final station of the blue metro line M3 Kőbánya-Kispest. From there you can easily go directly to the city centre by metro.
For exact timetables, visit bkk.hu/en/timetables. Tickets can be purchased in the following variants:
- 450 huf - non-transferable for 1 ride (so you need to buy 2 tickets to get to the centre)
- 750 huf - transfer for 90 minutes (can only be bought on the BudapestGo mobile app)
- 2 500 huf - 24-hour ticket
- 5 500 huf - 72-hour ticket
Multi-hour tickets are valid for the entire Budapest public transport network, i.e. buses, metro, trams and trolleybuses.
- Travel time - 50-55 minutes to the centre (bus 200E + blue metro line M3)
- Operating hours - 24/7
- Frequency - 10 minutes during the day, 60 minutes at night
Buy your ticket at the ticket machine at the bus stop, where you can also pay by card, or via the mobile app (available on: Google Play / App Store). In addition to the above tickets, you can choose from a full range of public transport tickets.
From 23:30 to around 4:00, the 200E line does not go to the Kőbánya-Kispest terminus, but to Határ út station, where you can change to the night buses 914, 914A, 950 and 950A in the direction of the city centre.

Bus 100E
Since June 2017, the express line 100E also runs without a transfer directly to the city centre (stopping only at Kálvin Tér, Astoria and Deák Ferenc Tér stations).
- Fares - 2 200 huf
- Journey time - 40 minutes
- Operating hours of line 100E - 4:20-0:30

Terravision bus
Terravision offers an alternative way of transport with direct lines to Budapest's Nyugati, Keleti, Déli, Népliget bus stations and to the Ritz-Carlton Hotel on Deák Fernec tér.
The advantage is the direct connection to all stations without the need to change trains, the disadvantage is the very high price.
Terravision uses miniBUD buses in Budapest, which will have their logo on the side of the car.
- Fares - 10 eur
- Travel time - 50 to 75 minutes
- Operating hours - 24/7
- Frequency - 30 minutes
- Buy a ticket at terravision.eu
The Terravision ticket is not valid on any other lines in Budapest. No need to print the ticket, just show it on your mobile phone.
Taxi
Only yellow cars of the official taxi service with fixed prices according to the meter are allowed to go to the airport. These are 700 huf for the boarding rate, 1 600 huf for the first 3 km and 300 huf for each additional kilometer.
The average price to central Budapest is (depending on the specific destination) around 10 000 huf to 12 500 huf depending on the current traffic situation.
There are also mobile apps Uber and Bolt in Budapest, but they must have the same prices as taxis according to the ordinance and they also operate according to a meter. The only advantage is that you can pay by card directly via the mobile app.
Car rental
If you want to thoroughly explore the Hungarian countryside, renting a car is a less convenient mode of transport. You'll find several car rental branches in the arrivals area of the terminal, which you should always book online in advance.
Weekly rental prices range between 80 eur and 250 eur depending on the size of the car and the season.
Hello,
-I'm 65+, should I buy a ticket?
-I'll be leaving on a weekday afternoon, does anyone have experience with how far in advance to the airport if I'm not checking luggage?
Thank you for the information, Roman
Hello, line 100E is a special express line where you have to buy a full fare. Other transport in Budapest (including the 200E line and the metro) will be free. You just need to show your ID/passport at the checkpoint.
I would ideally be at the airport at least 90 minutes before departure. Security lines can stretch for half an hour.
Thank you for the comprehensive information. Roman
