Hotels and sleeping at Bangkok Don Mueang Airport

Airport Don Mueang

For early morning departures or very late arrivals, it is definitely worth staying overnight at the airport for the greatest convenience. The journey to the city centre is long and in the morning and at night only possible by taxi.

Overnight in the terminal - opening hours

The public areas of the terminal are open 24/7, however, you can get to the transit area no earlier than 4 hours before departure and in the case of the domestic terminal even only 2.5 hours before departure if you fly early in the morning.

Both terminals have quite a few backless seats that are relatively comfortable to sleep on.

Unless you look homeless at first glance, the police will most certainly not check you.

However, the airport is quite noisy even at night, as international flights run 24/7 and the first domestic flights take off at around 5:00 am.

Hotels near the airport

There are several accommodation options in close proximity to the terminal, and we've picked out the best ones.

  • Amari Don Mueang Airport Bangkok **** - The largest and only truly classic modern hotel directly opposite the airport, prices from 75 usd, 7 minutes walk to the terminal
  • Dragon XIV - small hostel with very small but clean rooms with private bathrooms and 24-hour reception, prices from 25 usd, 15 minutes walk to the terminal
  • Donmueang Place Hotel **** - small modern hotel with lovely rooms, located in a seemingly dirty area but the 15 minute walk to the terminal is safe even at night time, great prices from 25 usd
