The only international airport in the Caribbean nation of Antigua and Barbuda is located about 6 km east of the capital city of St. John's. It is mainly served by flights from neighbouring island countries, the USA and Canada, as well as the UK.
The first ever Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, Sir Vere Cornwall Bird, is the person after whom the airport is named.
The airport underwent a complete renovation in 2015 and is now a modern entry point to the popular holiday region.
