Alghero Airport is the ideal starting point for road-trips around Sicily. However, there are also frequent bus connections to nearby towns from the terminal.
Car rental
If you want to explore Sardinia on your own, driving around and discovering deserted beaches or mountain villages, the best mode of transport is a rental car. Many car rental companies, both local and multinational, are based at Olbia airport. You can easily compare them all at the click of a button, for example via this website:
Prices vary greatly according to the season and especially how far in advance you book. If you book a car a month in advance for the summer season, you will pay for a week at 400 eur, but if you book six months in advance, for example, you will only pay 165 eur for the same car for the same period of time.
