Ahmedabad Airport is divided into 2 terminals which are not interconnected.
You can only walk between the terminals on a marked walkway. The distance is approximately 250 metres.
Due to several pre-departure checks, we recommend arriving at the airport at least 3 hours before departure.

Which terminal?
The buildings are divided into domestic and international flights.
- Terminal 1 - a smaller and often quite crowded building serving all domestic flights within India
- Terminal 2 - a modern and spacious building serving all international flights to international destinations
Before entering the terminal, you will go through a document check. Have your ticket or boarding pass ready, just show it on your mobile phone.
This is immediately followed by a baggage security check before you can check in.
After checking in, there is the usual airport security check.
Transfer between flights
Transfer procedures vary depending on the type of transfer.
Below we describe situations where you have both flights purchased as one booking or if you have your own connection (two separate bookings) without checked baggage.
Domestic <-> Domestic
In domestic Terminal 1, you do not have to leave the transit area when you change planes.
Follow the "Domestic Transfer" signs that will take you from the baggage belt room to the departure gates.
You do not need to collect your baggage if you have all your flights on one booking.
- Average transfer time - 20-30 minutes
International <-> Domestic
When changing from an international flight to a domestic flight or vice versa , you must always collect your baggage and re-check it in.
You must always walk between terminals (approximately 250 minutes) and go through immigration and security checks.
- Average transfer time - 70-105 minutes
International <-> International
This type of transfer is a rarity at Ahmedabad Airport and hence the international terminal does not have a direct transit option.
Hence, you must always go through Indian immigration control and depending on the length of the transfer, you may therefore need an Indian visa.
You need to collect your luggage and re-check it.
- Average transfer time - 60-90 minutes
Overnight stay in the terminal - opening hours
The airport remains open 24/7. However, you will only be allowed in upon presentation of your ticket or boarding pass, and staff will often refuse to admit passengers who have a departure in more than 5 hours.
As a practical matter, it is therefore not possible to stay overnight at Ahmedabad Airport.
Hotels near the airport
There is no hotel directly next to the terminal.
There are several very small and often poorly rated local hotels in the adjacent area.
The only good quality large hotel of international standards is called The Ummed Ahmedabad Airport ***** and is about 650 metres from the airport.
The hotel offers an airport transfer service for a fee of approximately 10 usd.
