Inspired by New York's High Line Park, the Bloomingdale Line public park was created in Chicago in 2015 on the site of a former rail line.
The nearly 4.5 kilometre-long corridor of pedestrian and cycle paths is lined with benches and greenery and has contributed significantly to the revitalisation of the site.
The Bloomingdale Line is open from 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. and admission is free.
Among locals, and often on official maps, this park is referred to as The 606, after the general designation of Chicago's zip codes. The very area where the Bloomingdale Trail passes through is numbered 606.
