The beach lies in a quiet, remote area of western Sardinia, free from the hustle and bustle of the big cities, about 20 km north of Oristano.
The shape and facilities of the beach
The almost 6 km long wide stretch of fine sand is washed by clear sea on one side and surrounded by dunes and a dense pine forest by Mediterranean standards on the other.
Is Arenas is one of the most beautiful beaches if you are looking for a natural setting away from the larger resorts. The length of the beach encourages long walks and jogs, as well as sunbathing and digging in completely secluded spots. The larger waves that whip the western environment in turn attract surfers.
Facilities here are very limited, with only small refreshments to be found in the adjacent campsite and then at the very northern end of the beach in the village of Torre del Pozzo.
Accommodation
You can stay right on the beach at the Is Arenas Camping Village or at the small guesthouse Casa Elisa.
Other accommodation options are in the village of Torre del Pozo.
Transportation
The closest you can get to the beach by car is the small free car park at the campsite, which is about a 3-minute walk to the beach.
The nearest bus stop is about 1.5 km from the beach in the town of Torre del Pozo, where line 703 runs from Bosa and Oristano.
