In the historic centre of Pest, right on Andrássy Avenue, the magnificent Neo-Renaissance building of the Hungarian State Opera House is one of the country's symbols. In addition to the city of Budapest, the construction was also significantly financed by Emperor Franz Joseph I to support the cultural development of the Hungarian part of the monarchy. The opera house was inaugurated in 1884.

The Neo-Renaissance Opera House, designed by architect Miklós Ybl, has not been renovated for more than 130 years and still serves its purpose perfectly - opera and ballet performances. The opera house is one of the best in the world in terms of acoustics.

You can visit the opera house without a performance, every day from 12:00-17:00.

If you would like to attend the performance directly, it is definitely advisable to book tickets online at least 14 days in advance. Prices range between 5 500 huf and 22 000 huf depending on the attractiveness of the venue.
