Supermarkets with food can be found in both terminals:

  • Marks & Spencer - Terminal North, public area, departures, open 24/7.
  • WHSmith - Terminal North, public area, arrivals, open daily 6:00-0:00
  • WHSmith - Terminal North, after security check, open daily 3:00-21:00
  • Marks & Spencer - Terminal South, public area, arrivals, open daily 24/7
  • WHSmith - Terminal South, public area, arrivals, open 24/7
  • WHSmith - Terminal South, after security check, open daily 3:30-22:00

Pharmacies are also of practical use and can be found in both terminals. The following branches have the longest opening hours:

  • Well Pharmacy - Terminal North, after security check, open 3:00-20:00
  • Boots - Terminal North, after security check, open 3:00-20:00
  • Boots - Terminal North, public area, arrivals, open 6:00-0:00
  • Boots - Terminal South, after security check, open 3:00-20:00
  • Boots - Terminal South, public area, arrivals, open 5:00-23:00

Both terminals are also equipped with a wide range of shops. You can enjoy shopping for luxury fashion, jewellery and watches, keep the kids entertained at the Lego store and of course, shop for discounted goods at the many duty free shops.

Restaurants and cafés

Restaurants can be found before and after security. The following restaurants and cafés are open 24/7:

  • Terminal North before security: Costa Coffee, Starbucks, The Nicholas Culpeper
  • Terminal North after security: Pret A Manger, Starbucks
  • Terminal South before security: Caffe Nero, Costa Coffee
  • Terminal South after security: Costa Coffee, Pret A Manger, Starbucks

Luggage Storage

Luggage storage can be found at two locations in the terminal. The operator is the same, so prices are the same at both locations.

For 24-hour storage, pay 15 gbp.

  • Terminal North - near the automatic train, public area, open 4:00-20:00
  • Terminal South - near check-in desks, public area, open 5:00-21:00

ATMs and exchange offices

The exchange offices at the airport have very unfavourable exchange rates and we recommend avoiding them completely.

Withdraw money from an ATM or pay by card (available almost everywhere in the UK).

Drinking water

There are only 4 water fountains in total in the transit area, from which you can fill your own bottle for free.

  • North Terminal - immediately after security on the right before entering the Duty Free shop
  • North Terminal - arrivals before immigration,
  • South Terminal - in the main departures hall behind security
  • South Terminal - arrivals before immigration

Showers

Only premium lounge visitors can take a shower during the long wait. You will not find showers in the public areas.
