Passengers at Faial / Horta Airport will use one small terminal common to all departures and arrivals.
The arrivals area is on the left and the check-in counters on the right. It takes 1 minute to walk through the entire airport hall and security check is a matter of 5 minutes at most.
Just arrive 60-75 minutes early for departure.
The public area of the airport is quite spacious but without seats. After going through security, you will find yourself in a very cramped area of two departure gates with about 20 seats.
Transfer between flights
Although Horta is a very small airport, this is often where you will connect to flights to the islands of Flores and Corvo.
The transfer is extremely easy. From the plane, you walk along the tarmac to the terminal, where you take a left following the signs and after less than 10 metres you will find yourself directly in the area of the only two departure gates.
There is no checkpoint and the total transfer time is about 3 minutes.
Some SATA flights operate under the same flight number and with the same aircraft on the Ponta Delgada - Horta - Flores or Ponta Delgada - Flores - Corvo route.
In most cases, you must leave the aircraft at Horta airport and follow the procedure described above to enter the terminal. In exceptional cases you can stay on the plane, which will always be communicated to you by the cabin crew.
