The main church in Ålesund is one of the landmarks of Aspøya and belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran Church.

The stone structure was built in 1909 in the Art Nouveau architectural style and is one of the most famous monuments of this style in the city.

The church can accommodate about 800 people and Mass is held here every Sunday at 11:00.

The interior is also open to tourists and we definitely recommend a visit. The beautiful painting behind the altar, the stained glass windows and the model of a ship hanging from the ceiling are worth seeing.

Admission and opening hours

The church is open to the public every day from 10:00-16:00, except Sunday morning when mass is held.

The ticket price is 50 nok and can be paid by credit card.
