The coastline around Vourvourou is divided into many coves with sandy beaches, bordered by photogenic rocks and small cliffs.

The area around Vourvourou is known as the 'Greek Sardinia' because it is very reminiscent of the Costa Smeralda or the Maddalena archipelago off this Italian island.

Beaches and swimming

The beaches here are beautiful and blend in with the surrounding countryside. They are surrounded by groves of pine trees providing pleasant shade, small scattered villas of apartments with gardens and, of course, crystal clear sea.

  • Karydi - one of the most famous beaches in Sithonia is located in a small semicircular bay framed by photogenic stones. However, the entrance to the water is stone-free and gradual, and the surface of the beach is covered with fine white sand. Karydi is an unorganized purely natural beach, but about 100 meters away you will find a small restaurant. The conditions are ideal for families and snorkelling.
  • Zografou - a small beach drowned away from civilization about 2,5 km from Vourvourou is organized by the adjacent campsite, which offers umbrellas and sunbeds or refreshments. The beach has coarser sand with pebbles, a sandy-rocky bottom and beautiful surroundings. Entrance costs 3 eur and the beach can only be reached by car.
  • Vourvourou - in the centre of the village you will find a sandy but very narrow beach, which is ideal for renting a boat or pedalo rather than swimming and relaxing on the local promenade full of tavernas.

Rent a boat and discover the coast

The rugged coastline around Vourvourou and the adjacent small islet of Diaporos directly invite you to explore from sea level, stopping off at the small secluded beaches and swimming wherever you like.

On the northern edge of the village you will find several motorboat rentals, which can be driven even without a license and previous experience.

Prices for day boat hire for 4 range from 90 eur to 180 eur in high season. Diaporos Boat Rental, Sirena Boat, Blue Lagoon Boat Rental
