The small town of Olympiada on the eastern coast of Halkidiki has nothing to do with the Olympic Games, but it will please all lovers of natural orphaned beaches, of which there are several in the vicinity of the resort.

Olympiada itself is quite a lively town with many tavernas, a supermarket and plenty of shops selling beach goods and souvenirs. However, it falls asleep quite early in the evening, making it suitable for families with children and travellers looking for peace and quiet above all.
Beaches and swimming
Right in Olympiada, you'll enjoy an evening at the small town beach with a lovely shaded promenade and cool local tavernas and a few shops.
Olympiada's beach promenade may be one of the quietest and shortest of Halkidiki's resorts, but we think it's one of the prettiest and most authentic.
Olympiada's strength, however, lies in the deserted natural beaches to the south of the town. You can visit 5 beaches at once, with their beautiful surroundings of densely covered green hills, small coves and above all crystal clear waters.
All the beaches are covered with fine white sand and can only be reached by car.
- Kefalas - the smallest beach with plenty of privacy just 350 metres from Olympiada, but often camped overnight by day trippers, and quiet only after 9am.
- Ammos - a romantic beach with plenty of privacy and shade in a beautiful bay framed by photogenic rocks, located less than 1 km from Olympiada
- Totos - a 500 m long beach with sunbed rentals and two small beach bars, located 1.5 km from the centre
- Babylon - 500 m long and very spacious beach with a beautiful bay and very gentle access to the sea. In season there is a sunbed rental and small refreshments, the beach is about 3 km from the centre
- Zepko - with more than 1 km the longest beach in the area is without facilities and therefore often half empty and ideal for lovers of absolute privacy
The ancient town of Stagira: birthplace of Aristotle
At the southern end of the village, don't miss a visit to the archaeological site of Stagira with its excavations of the ancient city. It's located on a small peninsula above the sea, but the ruins are not so well tended or extensive, so your visit will only take around 30 minutes.
It's open from 8:30am to 3:30pm every day except Tuesdays. Admission is free.
By all accounts, it was in ancient Stagira that the famous Greek philosopher Aristotle was born in 384 BC.
Accommodation Olympiada
Czech travel agencies do not organize tours to the resort, so the town is promised to individual tourists and is all the more peaceful for it. However, even with relatively little competition, accommodation in Olympiada is more expensive than in other resorts. However, you'll be rewarded with one of the most beautiful coastlines in all of Halkidiki.
Prices start at 92 eur per night for 2 in the holidays, and in the low season at 59 eur, for example at the cheapest, very well rated Kalokerino Hotel.
How to get to Olympiada?
The resort is 112 km from Thessaloniki airport and can be reached in an hour and a half by car. Most of the local accommodation offers free parking and even the beachside car parks are free. It's definitely best to head to Olympiada by rental car, given the inaccessibility of the smaller beaches nearby by bus.
However, if you're not planning on visiting the smaller beaches around the area, Olympiada itself can be reached by KTEL-Chalkidikis bus, search for the destination on the website under the name "Stagira" after the resort's older name:

- Stratoni - 5 times a day, driving time approx. 15 minutes and ticket price 2 eur
- Ierissos - 5 times a day, journey time approx. 25 minutes and ticket price 2,40 eur
