Sicily's largest airport is located about 8 kilometres from Catania and less than 50 kilometres from the summit of Europe's largest volcano , Mount Etna. Many airlines fly to Catania from all over Europe, including low-cost airlines from Prague and the surrounding area.

The airport is relatively spacious and modern, but deserted in winter and crowded in summer.

The official name is Aeroporto Vincenzo Bellini di Catania, but it is better known as Catania-Fontanarossa after the district in which it is located.

The cheapest flights to Catania are mainly with Wizz Air, which operates flights from Central and Eastern Europe.

Ryanair and easyJet also have extensive flights to Catania, mainly from Italian and European destinations. Among the traditional airlines, ITA Airways, Lufthansa and Air France-KLM fly to Catania.
