Transportation from Bournemouth Airport

Bournemouth

The terminal is served by bus line 737 approximately twice a day. There are also ubiquitous taxis and the most useful transport for the surrounding area will be a rental car.

Car rental

Dorset and the surrounding area encourages trips to the English countryside and spectacular UNESCO sites such as Stonehenge and the Jurassic Coast.

Travelling by car outside the cities is the most practical form of transport and Bournemouth Airport is home to Hertz car hire.

Prices in the summer season for a week start at about 350 gbp.

Bus

From the airport, you can take the 737 bus service run by local company Morebus.

However, the 737 only runs twice a day in the direction of Bournemouth city centre (morning) and 3 times a day from the airport to the city centre (afternoon). It is far from connecting to all departures and arrivals and also only operates on weekdays.

Timetables and a map of the service can be found on the website: morebus.co.uk.

You can buy a single day ticket for Zone A, which includes the city centre and airport, via the Morebus mobile app for 4,90 gbp or by validating your own contactless card with the driver for 5,10 gbp.

This is the maximum daily amount that will be charged to your card on any given calendar day if you travel on buses around Bournemouth. Lower value tickets are not sold.

Taxi

For many passengers, the only option for transport to/from the airport is a taxi. There are always plenty of taxis waiting outside the terminal and the Uber mobile app also works well in Bournemouth.

A normal taxi to the centre will cost around 20 gbp. Using the Uber app will get you a ride for 14 gbp to 18 gbp depending on current demand.

Train

There is no rail service to the airport and the nearest station is 6 miles away in Bournemouth town centre.

By train from Bournemouth you can get to towns such as Southampton, Salisbury or Weymouth.

The best way to find timetables and online tickets is via the Trainline website.
