The first international branch of the famous cultural centre and modern art gallery Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris was established here in Málaga. The local branch was established in 2015, with the proviso that every five years the contract to exhibit the Parisian collections in Málaga can be renewed, and so far it does not look like Centre Pompidou Málaga will close its doors in the coming years.

Gallery of Modern Art

The Centre Pompidou serves mainly as an exhibition space and modern art gallery. It has no permanent collections, which change roughly every few months, always replicating selected exhibitions from the parent Centre Pompidou in Paris. Here you can encounter virtually every kind of art from paintings to sculpture to photography.

In addition to the gallery, the Centre Pompidou is also used for various lectures and cultural events.

The most striking feature of the gallery is undoubtedly the glass cube located on the Muelle Uno harbour promenade, while the rest of the exhibition space is mainly underground.

Admission and opening hours

Tickets are always the same price for all current exhibitions.

Adults pay 9 eur when combining permanent and short-term exhibitions, but you can visit only permanent exhibitions (7 eur) or only short-term ones (4 eur).

Free admission is available to all students on presentation of their European ISIC card.

Centre Pompidou is open daily except Tuesdays from 9:30-22:00

How to get there

The Centre Pompidou is a 15-minute walk from the historic centre via Parque de Málaga, as is Malagueta Beach. The nearest bus stop is called Paseo del Parque (Plaza del General Torrijos) and is about 100 metres from the entrance. Bus lines A, 1, 4, 8, 14, 21, 36, 37, 38, 40, C2 stop here.
