The Jameos del Agua cave complex, formed by volcanic activity, is one of the main tourist attractions of Lanzarote.

Moreover, the Jemos del Agua area was transformed for tourist purposes in a rather radical way, but with great respect for nature, by the famous Lanzarote native, artist and architect César Manrique, who made this cave complex the number one tourist attraction in the late 1970s.

Along with Jameos del Agua, don't forget to visit the approximately 1.5 km lava tunnel with the Cueva de los Verdes caves.

The caves and the unique albino crab

In the main complex of Jameos del Agua you can visit two main lava caves partly underground and partly on the surface, in addition to an artificial lake and a lava valley.

The unique environment creates the right conditions for the albino crayfish, the only one of its kind in the world.

The area includes about 2 km of nature trails, the short Atlantis lava tunnel, two restaurants and a museum of volcanic activity.

Entrance fees and opening hours

The price of a ticket to the site is 20 eur, Children under 12 pay only 10 eur. The ticket includes admission to the volcanic museum. Tickets can be purchased on site and online at the official website ventaonline.cactlanzarote.com/jameos-del-agua.

It is open daily from 10:00-17:15.

How to get to Jameos del Agua

The site is located just off the main LZ-1 road and is about 28 km from the capital city of Arrecife. Parking right at the entrance is free.

You can also get here 3 times a day from Arrecife, Orzola or Teguise by bus line 9.
