Where to stay in Sint Maarten

Saint Martin

Accommodation will be the most expensive item in your budget when travelling to St Martin if you stay in a hotel. However, there are several private apartments operating here where prices are at reasonable levels.

Which places are the cheapest to stay in? And where are the best? Read on in this chapter.

Where to stay in St Martin

St Martin offers many luxury gated resorts that you don't have to leave for the duration of your holiday, as well as private guesthouses or apartments where locals rent out a room or the entire property.

We recommend checking the available offers and especially the prices before buying your ticket. Compare the offers on the two main sites that show the largest number of accommodation in St. Martin.

If you're heading to St. Martin in the high season, between December and April, book your accommodation well in advance, even 6 months or more! Deals are dwindling fast and prices rise significantly as your travel date approaches.

We recommend booking well in advance with the option of cancelling for free and checking offers over time to see if there is a cheaper option.

Maho and Simpson Bay

The area around the famous SXM airport is full of luxury resorts, the best of which at Maho Beach have views of the sea and landing planes.

If you're heading to St Martin mainly for the planes and sea swimming, Maho or Simspon Bay are the best areas for accommodation.

Hotel resort rates here start at 230 usd per night.

Orient Beach and Anse Marcel

The north and east sides of France are among the most popular beach destinations.

This area lies outside the most densely populated part of St Martin and is therefore one of the significantly quieter areas than, say, Philipsburg, Marigot or Maho. Nevertheless, you will find all the necessary facilities here.

Resort prices here are also high, ranging from 200 usd upwards.

Oyser Pond and Dawn Beach

A quiet resort with several luxury resorts can be found on the eastern border between the Dutch and French parts.

Oyster Pond with its famous Dawn Beach has a very pleasant relaxed atmosphere with plenty of upmarket restaurants and shops.

Expect prices at local hotels from 200 usd.

Marigot

The largest French town on St Martin is popular for budget hotels and complete tourist facilities.

Staying in Marigot is great for those who want to explore the island and save money on accommodation at the same time, as you'll also come across deals under 100 usd per night.

Philipsburg

The capital of the Dutch part is a great choice for those who want to stay near the largest harbour and like to combine a city stay with swimming.

There is a long beach right in the centre. At the same time, in Philipsburg you will find hotels with prices under 100 usd.

Cole Bay / Koolbaai

The large town in the Dutch part is super-located for exploring the island, as one of the two main minibus lines intersect here and the main road also passes through.

Cole Bay is not a pretty town. It consists of a few residential houses, warehouses, car or furniture shops and two large supermarkets.

However, you can find cheap apartments with price tags well under 80 usd per night.

St Martin hotel prices

St Martin is an expensive destination and even within the Caribbean it is priced above average.

For 1 night in a 2 bed room here you will pay from 100 usd to 180 usd in a small hotel or apartment, only rarely will you find prices below 80 usd for private apartments in the interior.

10 cheapest hotels - St. Martin

The lowest prices at beach resorts start at 250 usd and rise to arbitrary heights at the most luxurious hotels.

The highest accommodation prices prevail in the high season, from December to mid-April. If you are travelling during this period, we recommend booking accommodation well in advance (4 months or more).
