What to do in Poznań

Colourful houses on the Stary Rynek in Poznan

Head to Poznan if you enjoy history, military technology and walking around the historic centre.

Taste the St. Martin's croissant

This sweet roll is reminiscent of the French croissant, but that's where their commonalities end.

Poznan's traditional dessert has been baked by local bakers since the mid-19th century. It is made of yeast dough which is then folded and the filling is white poppy seeds, crushed nuts, almonds, sugar and cream. The surface is decorated with a glaze of icing sugar and crushed nuts and almonds.

As the ingredients suggest, the dessert is very dense and packed with calories that will be welcomed during a day of exploring the city. Take a seat at one of the bakeries and enjoy it with a good coffee. We can recommend the Mercure Hotel's patisserie near the main train station at the Rondo Kaponiera tram stop.

Book one of these best hotels in Poznan

Take a ride in historic public transport cars

You can experience a ride in cars from the last century every summer weekend. The season starts irregularly, depending on the weather, around May and rides take place until the end of October.

There are 2 tram circuits on lines 0 and 20 or bus routes on lines 100 and 102.

An active day at Lake Maltańskie

There are plenty of activities to do around Lake Maltańskie, and not only with children.

You can take the train to the new Poznań Zoo and then follow the forest trail to Freedom Hill. Along the way, you will pass a rope centre or a bobsled and toboggan run, which in the winter months is replaced by a smaller hill for skiers.
