Poznan is a smaller city, but it is still advisable to give the choice of accommodation location a few minutes of searching. After all, you can live cheaply but outside the centre and commute a few minutes by bus, or have most places to see in Poznan within walking distance.

Near the main station.
The area around the main bus and train stations, the Old Zoo and the University of Poznan will offer countless options of affordable apartments and hotels.
The location is ideal especially for travellers heading to Poznan by air. The airport bus from Poznan POZ Airport passes through the area with a final stop at the main railway station.
At the same time, the main stops of tram and bus lines heading to the historic centre are located here. The centre is also less than 10 minutes' walk away.

In the historic centre
As the location itself might suggest, you won't have to take public transport to the most important sights at all, but just step outside the entrance of your accommodation and you'll literally have everything at your fingertips.
There are more apartments in the centre than regular hotels, but there is still something for every traveller from backpackers looking for hostels to the more discerning clientele.

Our tip
We can personally recommend the 4* Mercure Poznań Centrum, which you'll find in the first location mentioned above, near the main station.
The rooms are modern and clean. The hotel restaurant serves a buffet breakfast and on weekdays there is also a lunch menu at very reasonable prices.
The hotel has a famous bakery where you must try Poznan's traditional rolls filled with white poppy seeds and nuts.
