The only major beach in Macau suitable for swimming is located in the southern part of Coloane Island. It lies in Macau's only natural area with forested slopes.

Nevertheless, there is a road with a promenade running along the beach and there are several restaurants and full sanitary facilities such as toilets and showers.

What does Hac Sa Beach look like?

The spacious beach stretches for almost 1km and is the perfect place to relax after a busy evening at the casinos or exploring the bustling and densely built-up city.

A beautifully landscaped pedestrian promenade runs alongside the beach.

At the southern end of the beach you can rent a pedalo or kayak and use the free toilet or cold water showers.

The surface of the beach is fine golden sand, but it often suffers from algae build-up and mixes with grey to black sand from the sea bed.

The water at Hác Sá is not the cleanest, but for walking, sunbathing or the occasional dip, Hác Sá is a great beach for a dip.

Hotels by the beach

If you want to stay in Macau in a very quiet location away from the bustling centre, choose Hác Sá Beach.

At its northern end, you can take advantage of Grand Coloane Resort ***** with great value for money.

How to get there

The beach is easily accessible from both the Cotai Strip and central Macau via several bus routes.
