Where to stay in Riga

Riga

Riga is a small and compact city, so it doesn't matter which part of the city you stay in. Hotels in the centre alone often cost up to 60 eur per night per room including breakfast.

Where to stay in Riga

Don't worry about choosing a specific location in Riga. Just stay a few streets away from the historic centre and you'll have the whole city in the palm of your hand. Walking distance will be no more than 15 minutes from anywhere to the historic centre.

Another advantage of visiting Riga is that you'll find plenty of international chains and premium hotels at prices no higher than 80 eur per night and room for two.

Lowcost hotels

If your goal is to really pay as little as possible for your accommodation, look for these hotels.

  • BalticApart Riga (approx. 25 eur / night) - a small hotel opposite the main train and bus station with 24-hour reception, wifi and rooms with private bathrooms.
  • LIghthouse Hostel and Rooms (approx 35 eur / night) - there is another budget accommodation in a completely identical location. Suitable for individuals looking for hostel accommodation

Mid-range hotels

The vast majority of hotels in Riga fall into the middle class. That is, hotels with 3* and 4* ratings and prices around 70 eur per room per night. We can recommend this hotel to you:

  • Old Riga Plaza Hotel *** ( approx. 60 eur / night) - the hotel is located near the Grēcinieku iela bus stop, where bus line 22 from and to the airport leaves. It offers modern renovated rooms and breakfast included

We recommend you keep an eye out to make sure this is actually a hotel and not an apartment or studio. If you are choosing an apartment or studio, make sure the property has a reception.

Luxury hotels

Even the more discerning clientele will find something to their liking in Riga. You'll find several premium 5-star hotels here:

  • Grand Palace Hotel ***** (approx. 200 eur / night) - just 100 metres from Riga Castle is this five-star hotel built in 1877. Elegance breathes here not only in the hotel lobby, but in the rooms themselves.
  • Dome Hotel ***** (approx. 200 eur / night) - if the above hotel is at full capacity, choose this one. Located just a few steps away, the complex also includes a Turkish bath
  • Grand Hotel Kempinski Riga ***** (approx 300 eur / night) - the Kempinski chain probably needs no introduction. The pompous hotel is located on the northeastern border of the historic centre, next to the park and the National Opera House.

Our accommodation tip

We can give you a personal recommendation for another 5* hotel, the Pullman Riga Old Town *****. Compared to its 5 star competitors, a night here costs only 90 eur for a room for two.

We recommend choosing the breakfast option, which is absolutely divine.

The hotels facilities include a free access pool, fitness centre and sauna. Thanks to the central location, you won't waste time getting to the historic centre.
