Champ-de-Mars

Champ-de-Mars

The Champ-de-Mars Park, or Martova pole in Czech, is one of the most visited places in Paris. The reason is simple: it is located directly below the Eiffel Tower and offers the most beautiful views of it. In addition, its grassy areas and the always neatly trimmed trees providing shade make it a very popular place for picnicking or just lying on the grass.

In addition, Martha's Field serves as one of the centers of the annual celebration of the storming of the Bastille on July 14 and also as a popular venue for concerts or New Year's Eve celebrations.

The Champ-de-Mars still served as gardens on the outskirts of Paris in the 18th century, but after that, the Military Academy was built here, which is still in operation today, and the Fields of Mart became a place for training exercises and military parades.

It wasn't until 1889 that Champ-de-Mars took on its present form - it was in this year that the Eiffel Tower was built to celebrate the 1900 World's Fair.
