Hotel Sacher

Hotel Sacher

Hotel Sacher is Vienna's most famous hotel with a tradition dating back to 1876, when it was founded together with the restaurant by Eduard Sacher, the son of Franz Sacher, who became famous for his recipe for the famous Sacher cake.

The luxury 5-star hotel prides itself on the finest accommodation, but most travellers head to its restaurant for the most typical Austrian dessert.

Taste the only real Sacher cake

If you believe that there is only one original and you like sweet desserts, then a stop at the hotel restaurant is a must. This is where you can taste the only truly original Sacher cake, a delicious chocolate dessert with apricot jam and thick chocolate icing.

It was Franz Sacher, the father of the hotel and restaurant's founder, who came up with this simple recipe at the age of 16 as an apprentice, which his son Eduard later improved with the famous chocolate icing.

Although you can order a "Sacher cake" in every other Austrian restaurant, the experience of the original can only be had here.

Restaurant Sacher Eck Wien - reservation

The hotel's restaurant is called "Sacher Eck Wien" and is located on the ground and first floor area of the hotel. It is open daily from 10:00-18:00 and although you can come without a reservation, we definitely recommend making one to be sure of a seat without the often many hours of waiting.

Reservations are easily made online at the official sacher.com website.

How much does a Sacher cake cost?

Although the Sacher Hotel has the hallmark of luxury, just like this unique dessert, the prices at the local restaurant are nothing out of reach.

For an original piece of Sacher cake here, pay 10 eur, and you can check out other specialties on the menu on the restaurant's website.

Accommodation at the Sacher Hotel

If you're thinking of staying in a luxurious yet very stylish 5* hotel, you couldn't have chosen better. Hotel Sacher is not one of the uniformed chains, but prides itself on the highest quality of service, original ambience and a luxurious yet not kitsch look.
