Internet and wi-fi

Freewifi is available through the "Zurich Airport" network. The connection is limited to 4 hours, after which you simply log in again.

You need to log in to the internet via sms code or by scanning your boarding pass at the information desk.

Luggage storage

The easiest way to store your luggage is in the automatic lockers right at the entrance to the train platforms.

The lockers are accessible 24/7 and you pay for storage up to 6 hours from 7 chf to 12 chf depending on the size of your luggage. There is also a fee 3 chf to 6 chf for each additional 6-hour period.

Additional luggage storage is located at the "Service Center" counter on Level 1 in the common area between the terminals and the train station.

This locker charges from 10 chf to 20 chf per day and is open from 6:00-22:30.

Shops and supermarket

Zurich Airport serves as one large shopping centre.

The transit zone is mainly equipped with shops of luxury clothing brands, stores of Swiss watches Swatch, Rolex and others, but also small newsagents with sweets and drinks.

In the public zone, the most shopping options are in the common area between the two terminals and the train station, where you can take advantage of shops selling fashion, shoes, sporting goods or electronics.

There are also regular grocery stores at the airport:

  • Migros - public area, "Airport Shopping" between the terminals and the station, open 6:15-23:00
  • Coop - public area, "Airport Shopping" between the terminals and the station, open 6:15-23:00
  • Coop Pronto - public area, between Terminal 1 and the station, open 5:30-23:00

Travelers will also take advantage of the pharmacies located at these locations:

"The Circle" Shopping Centre

About 200 metres from the terminal, you will visit the large shopping centre "The Circle" with many other shops selling fashion, accessories and practical goods.

Dining options

The airport is well-equipped with restaurants, fast-food outlets and small cafes with to-go bistros.

There is a wide choice in the public area and after security.

Most establishments don't open until around 5:30am and close between 9pm and 11pm. What restaurants are open outside these hours?

  • Air Bakery: bakery - public area, check-in 2, open 4:30-7:00 p.m.
  • Bellevue: café and bistro - transit area, departure gate A, open 6:30am-last departure
  • Bye Bye Bar: bar and bistro - public area, check-in 2, open 4:30-21:00
  • Center Bar and Kitchen: restaurant and bar - transit area immediately after security check-in, open 4:30-22:00
  • Edelweiss Café: café and bakery - public area, check-in 1, open 4:30-21:00
  • NZZ Café: café - transit area, departure gate A, open 4:45-last departure
  • Pret A Manger: takeaway refreshments - transit area, departure gate A, open 5:30-last departure

Travelling with small children

After passing through security near departure gate A, a room marked "Family Services" operates.

Access is free and you'll find play areas with toys, discreet cubicles for breastfeeding babies and rooms with baby-changing counters.

Smoking rooms

Enclosed, ventilated rooms can be found in the public area and after security checks in many places. Look out for the "Raucherzone" signs.

Drinking water

Cold drinking water fountains can be found located in all parts of the transit zone, usually near the toilets.

Showers

Showers for the general public are located in 4 locations at the airport.

  • Airport Fintess and Wellness – 15 chf / 30 minutes, public area, on the ground floor of the Radisson Blu Hotel (open 8:00-22:00, weekends 9:00-19:00)
  • Hotel Radisson Blu - 35 chf, public area, near Terminal 1, open 24/7
  • Service Center - 20 chf, public area, between terminals and train station (level 1), open 6:00-22:30
  • Transit Hotel - 20 chf, transit area, near departure gates B/D, open 24/7

Price in all locations includes towel and toiletries rental.

ATMs and exchange offices

ATMs of major Swiss banks can be found in all terminal areas and at the entrance to the train station.

Also because all transport from the airport can be paid online or by card, there are no exchange offices in the arrivals halls.

Aircraft overlooks

Zurich Airport boasts two highly rated terraces overlooking the airport's tarmac and the taking off and landing aircraft.

Viewing terrace B

The entrance is the only public area near check-in 2 and offers a view of the departure gates A, B, D, where mainly medium and smaller aircraft flying around Europe park.

The terrace has a great view of runway 16/34.

Observation Deck E

The terrace is located on the roof of the satellite building in the middle of the airport area. The view is mainly of the stands of large long-haul aircraft and you can clearly see take-offs and landings from runway 16/34 or 10/26.

Viewpoint E has two separate approaches.

For the public.

From the observation deck, special shuttle buses run every 30 minutes around the tarmac. You must pass through security.

  • Price - 5 chf (included in the fee for access to Terrace B)
  • Opening Hours - mid-June to end of October only and weekends and public holidays only, 12:15-4:00 p.m.

For travellers

Passengers with a valid boarding pass can visit Terrace E free of charge all year round every day from 8:00-21:30.

As the terrace is located in a separate building, which is accessed via passport control, it is only accessible to passengers from departure gates E.

Airport facilities tours

Zurich Airport is known for its friendliness to aviation enthusiasts and the general public and organises several tours that take you into the airport's facilities.

Tours are paid and cost from 200 chf to 450 chf depending on the tour you choose.

Fitness and Wellness

You can use the fitness and wellness centre on the ground floor of the Radisson Blue Hotel, open daily from 08:00 to 22:00 (on weekends only between 09:00 and 19:00).

Vending machines

Vending machines selling drinks, sandwiches, salads and sweets for quick snacks are located in many places throughout the airport (public area and transit area).
