Transportation from Tobago Airport

Trinidad and Tobago

There is no public transport to Tobago Airport.

Tourists most often get around the island by rental car or the ubiquitous taxis.

Car rental

There are many counters in the arrivals hall of several well-known local and multinational car rental companies.

A weekly rental of a small car in high season goes for about 385 usd. Off-season prices also drop to 200 usd per week.

We recommend booking your car rental well in advance (3 months or more), especially if you are heading to Tobago between December and March when the high season is in full swing.

If you book your car just before your trip, you run the risk that only large, expensive cars will remain available.

Taxi

There are no mobile apps like Uber, Bolt or Lyft operating in Tobago, but there are plenty of official taxis on the island.

There are also taxis waiting at the airport for every scheduled arrival. Official taxis always have the initial letter H on the license plate.

Taxis on Tobago do not use meters, instead prices are given between locations. However, always check with the taxi driver beforehand how much you will be paying and in what currency. Taxi drivers normally accept US dollars, but payments in Trinidadian dollars are more common.

Approximate prices from the airport for 2024:

  • Scarborough - 100 ttd
  • Black Rock - 90 ttd
  • Buccoo - 85 ttd
  • Parlatuvier - 360 ttd
  • Charlotteville - 440 ttd

Taxis are cash only.

Public transport

There are no public transport buses directly to the airport.

The nearest stops are in Crown Point town centre approximately 600 metres from the airport on Milford Road near Swallows Beach.

Buses in Tobago do not have a fixed timetable or clearly marked stops and are certainly not designed to carry passengers with large luggage.

Buses run from Crown Point to the largest town of Scarborough about once every 45-75 minutes and the ride costs 3 ttd.
