Transfer at Stockholm Arlanda Airport

Stockholm

The airport is large but clear, modern and very comfortable for passengers. Formally, Arlanda Airport has 4 terminals and one central SkyCity section. In reality, however, there are check-in counters in only 3 terminals.

Terminals 4, 5 and SkyCity are a single building and are connected by a public and transit zone. All 4 security checks at these terminals lead to one common transit area. It takes about 15 minutes to walk from one end of Terminal 4 to the other end of Terminal 5.

Terminal 2 is a separate building about 200 metres from Terminal 4 and about 500 metres from Terminal 5. It is connected to the other terminals by a corridor through the railway station (public area only).

Between terminals 2/3 and 5 you can use the free Arlanda Express train. The section where you don't have to pay for transport is really only between Arlanda Norra and Arlanda Södra stations.

Transfer between flights

The transfer process at Arlanda Airport is seamless and very straightforward. In most cases, you'll transfer within Terminal 5 or Terminal 2.

You don't have to leave the transit area, and there is no security or passport control if you are transferring between flights within the Schengen area.

When flying from a non-Schengen country, you will go through passport and security control.

The official minimum transfer time at Arlanda Airport is 30 minutes, or 40 minutes for flights from outside the Schengen area.

Transfer between terminals

Although it is not usual to transfer between Terminals 2 and 4/5 on the same ticket, a free shuttle bus runs between 6:00 and 22:00. Follow the signs "Connection to Terminal..."
